Packrat’s Wood Stabilising – Welcome!
Prices dropped March 2017.
I offer a high-quality stabilising service for wood and other porous materials such as bone, antler and leather.
Most of my work is for knife makers and pen turners, but I have also stabilised wood for rifle stocks, custom vape rigs, snooker cues, jewellery, guitar fretboards, sculpture tools, boxes and random artworks, and have used the same process with success on different types of fungus, fossilised mammoth bone, leather, antler, breezeblock(!), sandstone, and various other things.
My mission is:
To transform your materials into the highest quality stabilised product possible, which you’ll be able to use in your very finest pieces of work.
My technical processes have been refined and fine-tuned until they are as near perfect as I can make them, and I am always striving to improve them still further.
I only use the highest-quality methacrylate resin, and I don’t take any shortcuts.
My workshop is in New Malden in Surrey. I accept materials by post, and I will post them back to you.
I collect knives; in fact I sometimes like to take them in exchange for stabilising… so if you are a knife maker, maybe we can do a deal.
Please feel free to get in contact if you’d like more information. I would love to hear from you.
