Welcome to Packrat Woods!

Resin is out of stock. Due to serious health issues with both myself and family members (if you have been affected by prostate cancer and would like to follow my blog it’s at ckrat.uk), I am unable to supply any more resin or do any more stabilising until early 2018 at the earliest. If you are interested in being notified when I am back in action please add your name to my mailing list:

I promise I will never abuse your email address.

I offer a high-quality stabilising service for wood and other porous materials such as bone, antler and leather.

Most of my work is for knife makers and pen turners, but I have also stabilised wood for rifle stocks, custom vape rigs, snooker cues, jewellery, guitar fretboards, sculpture tools, boxes and random artworks, and have used the same process with success on different types of fungus, fossilised mammoth bone, leather, antler, breezeblock(!), sandstone, and various other things.

My mission is:

To transform your materials into the highest quality stabilised product possible, which you’ll be able to use in your very finest pieces of work.

My technical processes have been refined and fine-tuned until they are as near perfect as I can make them, and I am always striving to improve them still further.

I only use the highest-quality methacrylate resin, and I don’t take any shortcuts.

My workshop is in New Malden in Surrey. I accept materials by post, and I will post them back to you.

I collect and also buy and sell knives; in fact I sometimes like to take them in exchange for stabilising… so if you are a knife maker, maybe we can do a deal.

Please feel free to get in contact if you’d like more information. I would love to hear from you.
